Itty Bitty PEI
Prince Edward Island is the cutest island you’ll ever visit. With its colourful towns, red and white sand beaches, kind local vendors, your sure to keep going back! As soon as you cross over the confederation bridge, the stress of your on-the-go life just melts away and you’re on Island time.
Time to slow down, time to disconnect from technology, time to breathe, time to reconnect with family and loved ones, and time to just be.
If you’re planning to explore the Island outside of Charlottetown, which I most certainly recommend – you’ll need a car to get around – it’s larger than you think! On the island you’ll find world class golf courses, beautiful red (and white) sand beaches, incredible sunsets, and of course, the home of Anne of Green Gables. There really is not shortage of things to do when you’re on the Island. If you’re a fan of the books, definitely visit Green Gables Heritage Place, and if you haven’t read them, still visit Cavendish and explore the shops. And don’t forget to try a scoop of PEI’s famous, Cows Ice Cream! Next time I visit the island, I’m going to hike parts of the Confederation Trail which scales the island from tip-to-tip across the scenic countryside – you can bike it too!
Where to Stay?
Affordable Accommodations
1. We camped in our van at Twin Shores and it was fantastic. It’s perched on top of a red cliff with stair access down to the beach. Sunsets there are incredible.
2. Mill River Resort – Affordable resort with indoor pool and 18 hole golf course – perfect accommodations for the entire family – it’s dog friendly too!
Splurge Accommodations
1. Blackbush Beach Resort – we haven’t stayed here, but it’s on our list! It’s a small boutique hotel right next to the sandy dunes.
