What to do in Paris
1. Eiffel Tower – Day & Night
When you think of Paris, you immediately think of the Eiffel Tower, and for good reason! Sharing a baguette and a glass of wine while admiring the beauty of the tower from below is the quintessential Paris experience. So, I’m sure the Eiffel tower is at the top of your list! I recommend an early morning visit so you can snap a few pictures and enjoy the peace and quiet before the afternoon hustle! And then, return in the evening to watch the Tower sparkle for 5 minutes at the start of every hour from dusk ’till 11 p.m.
2. Montmarte
Montmarte is the highest “hill” in Paris and the views are worth the uphill climb. We walked everywhere in Paris and from the French Quarter, this was a trek! But always worth it. You’ll pass the famous Moulan Rouge sign and Palais Garnier (The Paris Opera House). Montmarte is known for its artistic heritage, hilly cobblestone streets, and unique village charm which is much different than most of Paris. While you’re there, you can take a tour of the iconic Sacré-Cœur Basilica, explore the shops and restaurants, and take in the views of Paris.
3. Arc De Triumphe
Another iconic spot in Paris is the Arc De Triumphe which stands at the centre of a bustling roundabout. There are twelve roads that join this roundabout, so it’s quite the spectacle to witness. If you have time, you can take the underground tunnel to the monument and climb to the top. We didn’t do this, but I’m sure it’s an amazing experience! You can walk the shops of Champs-Elysees while you’re in the area too and don’t forget to visit Galaries Lafayette while your there!
4. Louvre Museum
The Louvre is one of the oldest and grandest museums in the world which houses the famous Mona Lisa painting. Be prepared for massive queues and a day of exploration inside the museum. We didn’t have time to take the tour, but we made sure to visit the famous pyramid and snap a pic!
5. Latin Quarter – 5th ARR.
We stayed in the Latin Quarter when we were in Paris and I thought that it was the perfect place! You escape the business of the Eiffel Tour and 1st ARR., but it’s within walking distance to Notre Damn, Pantheon, the Seine, and so many cafes, shops, and restaurants! It’s also where you’ll find Emily’s apartment and Gabriel’s restaurant from Emily in Paris!
6. Stroll along the Siene
Everyday we’d find ourselves walking along the Siene or sitting on the edge and letting our legs dangle from above. You can walk for miles along the sidewalk and traverse across beautiful bridges. The water may not look clear and turquoise, but the energy along the Siene is lively with boat tours, pop-up latin dance parties, artisan vendors, and more. It’s also fun to spot glimpses of the Eiffel Tower along the way!
7. 1st ARR. and Jardin des Tuileries
The Jardin des Tuileries is a gorgeous park across from the Louvre. You can take a relaxing stroll through the gardens, people watch from a bench, or picnic. If you walk straight through the garden it leads you to the Champes-Elysees Ave which you can take to the 8th ARR. and continue to the Arc de Triomphe.
