Our Favourite Spots In Ireland
1. Guinness Brewery Tour
Take a tour of the famous Guinness Brewery! It was literally our most favourite day in Dublin. It was drizzling outside, so it was the perfect excuse to spend our entire day exploring the Brewery – and yes, it’s very easy to lose track of time and immerse yourself in the great Guinness history. The Brewery boasts floors of education, tasting rooms, snack bars, and our favourite, the rooftop bar! You might even be lucky enough to witness a full band ensemble and Irish Dancers perform for you! This is definitely a must do when visiting Dublin – and it’s fun for kids too!
2. Walk and Explore Dublin
Dublin is so beautiful! Our favourite way to beat jet leg and get a feel for a new city is to grab a coffee and go for a stroll. There are beautiful parks and gardens everywhere and the river is and bridges is so picturesque. Do not miss Temple bar – it’s busy, but worth the gander! We just did a quick walk down the streets and then headed back to the quieter side of town where our hotel was – which is what I prefer! Our number 1 TIP for choosing accommodations in a city – is to find a small boutique hotel in a quieter area of the city close to parks. You can always walk to the busy/party streets, but I always like to come home to serenity and peace.
3. PS I love You Bridge
Rent a car and drive south to find the PS I Love You Bridge! The drive through Wicklow Mountains National Park is so scenic, so if you’re not into a famous bridge, I still punch the Bridge into your GPS and enjoy the winding drive.
4. Explore Dingle, Kenmare, Cork, Killarney and more!
The County Kerry area is stunning! As soon as we started driving through the lush forest and colourful country hamlets, we knew that we did NOT give ourselves enough time to explore this picturesque corner of the Country. We suggest giving yourself time to breath and explore this area before continueing up to the Cliffs of Mohr. We spent the night in Kenmare, which was a cute, quiet little town with fabulous shops! Then drove to Killarney via Killarney National Park which was GORGEOUS! So lush and green! We highly recommend exploring this park if you have the time. We did a quick stop at Torc Waterfall and it was so worth it. Killarney is much bigger than Kenmare and would be a nice spot to stay and explore if your have the time. And then make your way to Dingle! I wasn’t really sure what to expect, since the only reason I wanted to go to Dingle was because of the Irish movie with Amy Adams. It’s a bustling coastal town with a lot more activity and shops than I had thought! Walk the streets and find a pub to settle in for lunch and a Guinness.
5. Cliffs of Mohr
The Cliff’s of Mohr is what comes to my mind when I think of Ireland. The rocky cliffs set high above the crashing ocean below with long green grass vibrantly displaying its lusciousness next to the contrasting black rock. All my Irish dreams came true when I saw the Cliffs of Mohr for the first time, and it was everything I had hoped and more. Minus the wind and rain, but that’s what you expect when you go to Ireland. Without the rain, it wouldn’t be so green.
6. Coastal Drive
The coast of Ireland is stunning, so grab a rental car and start exploring! I always like to look on Google maps and find off the beaten path roads that lead around peninsulas. They’re usually less touristy and always beautiful. You’ll most likely experience rapid changes in weather – we did at least! We drove through sun, rain, and wind, and it was all just magical. Ireland has a way of making the gloomiest of days bright and beautiful.
