What to do in Southern Enland

1. Windsor Castle

If you can, take the train to Windsor Castle! In our opinion, it’s the BEST Royal tour you can do! You get to explore so many spaces at Windsor, including St. George’s Chapel where Meghan and Harry were married! Which was honestly a highlight for me since I was tuned into their wedding at 4 a.m. back home. The town of Windsor is also a cute place to explore. You can check out the souvenir shops, grab a pint at a local pub, or lunch at a cute cafe. It’s worth the trip if you can make it!

2. Beachy Head Cliffs or Seven Sisters

Beachy Head Cliffs offers stunning views of the English channel and the chalk-like white cliffs. It’s also a great spot to go for a stroll along the coast and have a picnic. We were visiting Brighton and really wanted to see the White Cliffs of Dover but didn’t want to drive that far. When I saw that there were cliffs, just as magical, and a closer drive, we had to go check them out. The Seven Sister Cliffs would also be just as amazing!

3. Cornwall, Newqauy

A last minute decision to explore the southern most point of England lead us to Newquay. We wanted to stay directly on the coast so we could enjoy sunsets and hike the cornish cliffs. We found the most perfect stay at The Scarlett Hotel and it was everything we could have asked for and more. The views of the Celtic Sea at sunset were magic! And the changing tides brought new discoveries. There was even a trail that we could take right behind our hotel that bordered the coast.

4. Visit Stonehenge

I believe that you have to see these wonders of the world at least once in your life, so if you haven’t seen Stonehenge, put it on your list! Although, it can be a bit of a tourist trap. The site is free to walk if you walk from the parking lot and stay behind the sectioned off rope area. The walk was about 15 minute from the parking lot and the view was good enough for us. If you would like to get closer to the stones, you can pay to take the shuttle and you’ll get closer to access.

5. Brighton Pier

We arrived at Gatwick Airport after our red eye flight from Toronto and hopped into our rental car and drove south to the Brighton. There’s something about being by the water that feeds my soul and regulates my circadian rhythm. We enjoyed lunch on a patio by the English Channel then walked the pier and the beach.

6. Cliveden House

I discovered Cliveden House after Prince Harry and Meghan’s Royal wedding. Meghan spent the night before her wedding there and I thought that it would be so neat to see it! Plus, they have High Tea and the most beautiful gardens through out the property. You could get lost in the gardens for hours.
